Try Slash's interpretation of the "godfather" theme. It's not too hard to play (I'm a beginner myself) and sounds really cool. you can find tabs for it here:

Man.. you guys got it all wrong, definitely playing A Change of Seasons and then right after finishing that song, play Metropolis P1 then play them backwards in the same order. It's real easy! :D

lol jk man, What I started with was unfortunately punk rock, white stripes etc.. but now that I have better taste in talented music and more difficult stuff. (Vai, Satriani, Dream Theater, {my personal fav.} and Yngwie) Even though the music might seem easy easy and you think, "Man this is ****.." try them and then as you progress move into a bit more difficult stuff. You should try this:
1.White Stripes, Blink 182 (yea I hate them too), and maybe Nirvana.
2.Metallica, Iron Maiden etc
3.System of a Down etc..
4.Dream Theater, Rush, Queenschrye (i think that's how you spell it)
5.Liquid Tension Experiment
6.Van Halen
7.Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai

That should get you started and it may not be perfect for you but that's how I went. Try it out and see what happens. Oh yea, PRACTICE!!!!
Go Petrucci!! Ra-ra Vai!! Die 182!! ****ers...
