I believe Yngwie Malmsteen didnt have any formal lessons when he was growing up and he also listened to alot of records...When he got old I think he got a theory teacher but im not too sure about any of this

I cant believe Hendrix took any lessons, I'm pretty sure he didn't.. But he's not alive so he maybe doesn't count..
I'm not sure where the line goes, do you take lessons when you're jaming with friends or if you read guitarlessons on the net.. Whatching instrucion videos?

Slash didn't take lessons... He admitted in an interview that he only knows a few basic scales. He totally plays by ear and feel.

Dimebag, baby!! He said he only took one when he was in a slump, after he had already been playing for a few years and he never went back. haha He's not big on scales and goes by ear and feel.
The best music out is not on the radio or MTV!!!
