humbucker question

Alright me and my friend were having a fight at School about humbuckers. He says that you can make it so that a humbucker will act just the same as a Single Coil. I disagree because of the way they wrap the wires and I remember something from my physics class about series and parallel resistors or something like that. Can someone help me out?

Your friend is right, it's done with a coil tap. A series/parallel switch is similar but not quite the same thing.

oh ok.

another question though. If that's the case then what's the point of the new S1 switching?

It's a series/parallel switch. Similar function.
