eruption sounds

i have no clue about the different things you can get for a guitar to effect the sound.i was wondering wether anybody knew how to get the sound of Eddie van Halen's guitar in eruption.its an odd sound and isnt used through the whole sounds only when it soudns very quick twards the end.if neone knows how to get that sound id appreciate it if you could let me in.thanks a lot.

lol theres like 45 different sounds in there..ur telling me hes tapping the strings differently to get them?how many ways can tap a string?:confused:

I dont know if this will help but theres a new distortioner from Eddie
calld MXR EVH phase 90 its featerd in alot of guitar mags pisificly this
months issue of guitar world.
