Metallica great
There is nobody that comes close to what they have done. They paved the road. The others are just driving on it.

So I guess Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden don't count?

No offense meant. Black Sabbath are in a league all their own and I listen to them just as much as metallica but each are unique and as such stand alone. There may be similarities in some aspects of their style but each have that special something that makes them who they are. ;)

Metallica's got the "it" factor in spades, too. They didn't fall in trends at all when they started and after grunge hit, were one of the few that started in the 80s that still survived. I can bet that if they come through your city, it'll be the biggest concert for a few months, (especially if you don't live in a big city) and the best one you'll ever be at. Old, new, who cares?!? They, like every mother****ing other band in the world, will play it all at their shows, so there's no way to be disappointed. Yeah, it's funny to see who's not a real fan when they pulled out "No Remorse" on their Summer Sanitarium tour. Everyone was like "no what?" lol
But what made Metallica Metallica really happened the most in their first ten years, not the last ten years. **** man, if any of your bands go for more than a few gigs at a lame bar, I'll be surprised. You weren't in their shoes, so saying nu-metal and metallica in the same sentence is ****in lame, man. You'd probably do the same thing, besides, they're probably the band with the biggest excuse to do whatever the hell they want. THEY EARNED IT!!
And not care for the fans? You in their fanclub? Yeah, that's right, shut up.

The best music out is not on the radio or MTV!!!

But the thing I dont understand it . . . how can you call yourself a Metallica fan if you dont like their music they are producing right now.
you say: O YEA!!!! im a HUGE fan of Metallica. My favorite songs are Creeping Death, Four Horsemen, and Master of Puppets. Though I hate everthing in ST.ANGER
that makes sense . . . i think not
just thought thats an interesting point. :D

You can still be a fan and hate some of their stuff. I personally think St Anger is crap, doesn't mean I haven't been listening to their stuff since I was 10 and loving it....
I don't think theres anything wrong with complaining about their new album... it IS completely different to anything they're done before. I wouldn't go as far as to say I hate them for releasing it though. If a friend of mine went from listening to Metallica to Britney Spears, i'd think he was crazy but i'd still be his/her friend.
I was trying to not post anything in this topic too....oh well....
Oh, and im not going to buy St Anger simply because I don't like what i've heard so far. A fan shouldn't be expected to buy something they don't like or have Metallica telling them they arn't true fans. That's equally as bad as Saying Metallica are sell outs.
