i left a post before telling people in detail the equipment & set up SRV used to get his sound well obviously that is the expensive & complicated route. so the other day when browsing the net i found the digitech bad monkey pedal on the net with some audio sample & it gives a nice texas blues sound not dissimilar to SRV, & when you listen to each sample it shows you the settings they had it on, so you could buy one of those or set up your pedal to similar settings as i did, this is how i set up my multi-fx.

so i got my korg AX1500G picked a tube OD amp model, and set it up as so:

level - 6
bass - 6
trebble - 10
gain - 6
middle - i played around with it till i got the right sound i think its some wher about 6-7

i then picked a 4x10 tweed cabinet (open back 4x12" speakers) i thought it sounded better than the 1x12 tweed even though he used a 1x12 speaker more ofter than a 4x10, i just played around with the settings of the cab till it sounded about right then added a touch of reverb & it all made for a great texas blues tone quite similar to SRV i tried it out by playing the intro to pride & joy

for the clean channel i just bypassed the amp modelling & left the cab & reverb settings as they were and it sounded great when playing Lenny.

my advice is to get a good texas blues tone then make fine adjustments till you get a sound like his.

ive recorded about 1 minute's worth of Lenny using my clean tone so here's a link check it out SRV (Clean Tone Demo) - Lenny please dont judge my playing as im not SRV so obviously i cannot play like him & i havent been playing long

ill record a section of another of SRV's tracks on the overdrive channel & upload that also as soon as i can
