As a matter of fact, I just listened to him all night. This is irrelevent to your question though. He's alright.

His name is Brian Carroll, hes adoptred various personas in his career, most famously Buckethead, but previously he was a robot called Death Cube X. Nobody has ever seen his face, apart from some people at a Guns N Roses board, not even his mother - he was born wearing a ski mask(which obviously is removable), but the KFC bucket began to grow with the onslaught of puberty, and cannot be removed. He has huge hands. He's played with Primus in the past, as well as Guns N' Roses who he has reportedly just left, and most recently Claypools Bucket of Bernie Brains, consisting of Les Claypool on bass, BH on geetar, Bernie Worrell on keys and Brain on Drums. His most famous album is Colma, well worth checking out, although it gets boring in my opinion.

He's alright. I often open gigs with "Welcome to Bucketheadland". It's such a kick-ass song!
"You must stab him in the heart with the Bone Saber of Zumacalis... well, you could stab him in the head or the lungs, too... and the saber, it probably doesn't have to be bone, just anything sharp lying around the house... you could poke him with a pillow and kill him."

Buckethead is not of this earth. He's a speedy picker, but kinda sloppy too. There are infinite rumours he is Paul Gilbert, but Gilbert is a cleaner player. I dunno, he has lots of crappy tunes, but he also has some pretty neat stuff. Overall, he's a good guitarist.

I know I'm going to take some heat for this, but I stand by what I'm saying:

Since Shawn Lane's death, I think Buckethead is the best guitarist out there. I really do, I've heard almost everything that he's released. And he's capable of doing anything Shawn could have done (that I know of). Back in the 80s and early 90s, before anyone really knew about Shawn (or buckethead of course), Buckethead apparently was a big follower of Shawn's bootlegs, and his influence can be seen if you look in the right places.

This'll be slightly off topic but a buddy of mine just sent over some Lane tunes covering Hendrix - All along the watchtower and Peace in the Mississippi. Played verbatum but pretty decent to hear, his solos are very Lane instead of imitating the original except for watchtower ...but it was pretty sweet to hear an artist branch out and show some appreciation for another. My impression of these tunes was that he had listened to Hendrix to try to get some of the feel rubbed off on his playing. Different style.

Yeah, I really dig the cover of Peace In Mississipi. I haven't heard him play All Along The Watchtower though, must just be from a bootleg I don't have yet.
