Hey

Is there anykind of software you can use to record songs without a portable studio or whatever? Once, at the beginning of my playing, I placed a $9.50 mic infront of my amp, but it really sucked, haha

Anyway, are there any downloadable programs to use? Will I need some kind of speciell port into my computer? Well, any help is welcomed!

the recording software I use is called Cool Edit Pro, which I believe is called Adobe Audition these days.

This is awesome, yet expensive software, so for a cheap, yet not as good alternative, I would recommend using DDClip

This song was recorded by me using a 10 watt practice amp plugged into a Soundblaster 16 using DDClip Free Version as the recording software.

I've recorded a number of songs with cool edit pro. I've found a few things about it "irky" so to say, but nothing that would effect the quality of the program. Course I started with soundforge and that's a good bit different so it took some getting used to.

I use Adobe Audition, formerly Cool Edit Pro. I have found this software to be the easiest to learn and is compatible with a great deal of other software out there. It allows the use of DirectX plugins for effects other than those that were installed with it. However, its cost can be prohibitive for some. A cheap, albeit less capable, alternative is Cakewalk's Guitar Tracks, which can be purchased for around $50.

Heh guys :) Long Long time for me since I last posted.

I currently use MBOX (Pro Tools) and was gonna upgrade to a dIGI 002 Rack system (I have quite a few recording outboard gear) untill I discovered and ordered the EMU 1820M:

This definately blows away the Digi002. Read the specs. For the price...it's a steal. I also ordered the EMU Emulator X software:

In other news: I got rid of my boogie (Triaxis, 2:Ninety) rack system (But kept my rectifier cabs) and Got the Marshall MF350 (Mode 4) head.
I started learning guitar because of Randy Rhoads..but Yngwie J. Malmsteen is my biggest influence.

I downloaded a program called Audacity, it's totally free. I really don't know how good or bad the program is because I'm only just starting to get into recording. I have just some crappy headset which of mic I use. How can I connect my guitar amp straight into the computer?

is it recording software or guitar software you are looking for? Recordingsoftware is like religion, Logic, cubase, Nuendo or PT, just find something and stick with it.

But I can´t tell you how suprised I am for Line 6´s Guitarport, it makes Guitar recording a dream, so easy to use, extremly cheap compared to what you get. I only use it in studio but there is no limit to what it can do. Ik Multimedia has made the Amplitube also very nice, but I prefere Guitarport anytime

Cakewalk, as i heard is a very good recording software. I used to record with the mic in front of my amp horrible, now i use some demo cable and a 1/4 inch adaptor placed in line in, with the sound card. i need to upgrade my sound card.

Hey all. What a great site,Anyhow I use several programs including Cakewalk, Home Studio and Guitar Tracks Pro 3 thru an IBM R40 thats been tweeked along with an 8 channel mixer and a little tascam 4 track. I've had to learn them all along the way but like the way all the Cakewalk stuff works together. I havent had to mike an amp as I go direct into my laptop from an AX1000g pedal. Works for me :D
I have used Cakewalk HomeStudio to record a 16 piece jazz band. It worked well.
