I just want to put my two cents in..

I have owned 2x Metal Zones in the matter of 4 or 5 years. It sounds great with combo amps but if you ever try and practice with it or gig it through a head you have to mess with the EQ alot because its hard to cut through the other instruments and be heard.

The pedal alone makes your highs sound like plain white noise and your lows like mud. So you have to adjust accordingly.

One thing I learned through playing with it is that you don't necessarily want to max the distortion and everything else. When I use it, I have:

  • volume at 50-60%

  • low/bass at 50% (so it doesn't sound too muddy)

  • high/treb at 70-75%

  • mid at 0-25% (to get that metal sound)

  • mid freq at 50%

  • distortion at about 60%

Lately, however, I have just been using my head's gain/distortion channel with a Tubescreamer TS-9. It took some getting used to coming from the Metal Zone, but it seriously sounds way better and much thicker live and on recordings.

Sorry for making it so long ;)
