Anyone been to any of the earlier G3 concerts? Any thoughts? Bad and/or good?

They're releasing ticets tomorrow and I'm planning on going. I must see Vai in action. I just have to heh.

Well, I saw one stop of the tour last year with Yngwie. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't exactly the best 'guitar concert' I'd ever seen. Also, with a different lineup for 2004.. its impossible to comment on it really. Robert Fripp is great, but its always hard to tell how he will fit in with Vai and Satriani.

I caught a G3 show back in November. I'd recommend going because Vai and Satch are living legends, something you can tell your kids about :).

You can check out my G3 2003 review here

Can you describe his music for me? I've received mixed reviews from what I've heard.

Is this G3 tour in Europe or something? I checked ticketmaster but it came up empty.

I saw Robert Fripp on the G3 tour several years back with Satch, Vai, and Kenny Wayne Sheppard. I'm well aware of his work with King Crimson. Suffice it to say, he shares nothing in common with those virtuosos and I don't think his style compliments Vai or Satch very much (nor, for that matter, does Kenny Wayne Sheppard....who stinks compared to the late SRV, let alone Satch or Vai). I'm being completely serious when I say this: When Robert Fripp was on stage, he was just strumming some random crap through a quadrillion effects pedals and a synth guitar unit. He was up first, and I swear 98% of the audience thought he was a sound technician who was setting up the guitars/sound equipment for the 'real' guitarists. No one in a million years thought he was actually part of the show. I personally thought he was extremely boring.

My point exactly. Not that I plan on having kids though =)

Gonna pick up the tickets this weekend and I will treasure them with my life. Or sell to the highest bidder.. Nahh..

I like the expression on your face there Leedog, hehe. You seem to have as ****ty cam as I have. Damn thing can't work in darkness. I'm gonna bring the cam with me still. Should probably bring something if I get a chance getting autographs. Old underpants? \m/
