Can you shredmeisters point me in the right direction on the net to find some good shredding material?

Basically, I would really like to start learning some three-octave scales to start shredding because that just sounds bad-ass.

Also, I need to learn more arpeggios.....where can I learn some arpeggios that aren't just your Major and Minor....I am sick of those....

I dunno.....the title's what got me.
Anywhoo, if you wanna learn shreddy stuff like that, try to find examples of what you want to learn, like those scales, in actual songs. Then, learn those songs. I do that (at least I try) and its a lot more fun that just running the scales and stuff.

I wouldn't let mick thompson tie my strings or take out my garbage. Slipknot is up there with Limp Bizkit and Hanson on the "bands I want to mutalate most" list.
Oh but I forgot....they are really heavy and scary and cool because they wear masks.....thank god for gimmicks

erm u clearly hav no idea wat ur talking about, have you heard mick thompson play guitar not in the context of slipknot?

Listen to the guy solo and shred then go on about mutilating him if u must

What the hell are you on about... you arent making any sense !
By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

I thought you mean that Hanson was included in the band that are scary and cool because they wear masks. Yes, but thats my fault for skimming you make it quite clear. I agree with you about the Slipknow thing by the way.

The only one worth anything in slipknot is their drummer, because slipknot sucks...

I honestly hate shredding and wonder where people get off on playing 10000 notes. I never wanna hear a stupid neo-classical guitar lick ever again in my life, and if you play one, you should be ashamed of yourself for being such a lame ass.

1- most of you have probably never heard mick outside of slipknot...He is good..Zakk said that himself in guitar world plus he used to teach JAZZ at a school in Iowa..Now if remember correctly it takes some serious talent to play and teach Jazz..You guys just judge him because hes in a band that you despise
now i dont like slipknot too much (only a few of their songs) but Mick is good at guitar..probably better than most of us on this forum that keep bitchin about him
2- rarebird, why the hell did you come to a shredding topic if you dont like it???you should be ashamed of yourself for being such a dumb ass
In memory of Randy Rhoads

I'm not gonna get sucked into some kinda argument about what bands or styles of playing suck, but that shredding dissing thing you went on there was just stupid.
Its fine not to like neo-classical music, but since when is it the only style of "shredding", and since when is someone a lame ass for playing it? I think you should get out a little more a show a little respect for the other guitarists out there who do like to play that kind of music, rather than being ignorant.
And God said, 'Let there be rock!'
