I just read on another site that Gibson won it's court case against PRS for building the Singlecut guitar. Guess I will have to start picking up all the PRS Singlecuts and SE models (including the new Soapbar one that I really like a lot) and putting them away for when they go for fat cash... Pre lawsuit Singlecuts anyone?

I have a feeling someone will bite the bullet and make some kind of licensing agreement, because that damned model is one of PRS's most popular at the moment...
So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

That's so typical - "If you can't beat them, sue 'em".

I think on the bases of this trial, Fender should sue most of the manifacturers of electric guitars.

What's the deal with this lawsuit anyway?

If Gibson can get away with suing Ibanez (and in the process halting the production of some of the most amazing electric guitars ever produced), then they can get away with anything.

Everyone in their time should try to find an Ibanez GR520. A Ghostrider. These things play like the best Gibson Les Paul you could find... Except they sound better (thank you Dimarzio PAF), the craftmanship is just as good, they're LIGHTER (a lot lighter), and the hardware is just as good. But Ibanez doesn't make these anymore (I'm assuming because of pressure from Gibson).

I just read the article on harmony-central and it made me sick at my stomach! There is no possible chance that I will EVER even think about purchasing a gibson guitar after reading this BS! The guitar's are so different that it's pathetic they're getting away with this. Why must they single out PRS......oh wait, maybe it's because they're 100 times better than gibson! Seriously though, why only PRS and not all the other guitar manufacturers that produce singlecut body styles....huh...huh...? this is one of the most rediculous suits I've ever heard of. The body's aren't cut exactly the same, they're not the same size, the necks are defanately different, the top's are carved different, the pot locations and layout is different, and the bridge style is different.....I rest my case!

I didn't even like the PRS single cuts, i thought they were pretty ugly. I much prefer the McCarty.

I believe the Ibanez lawsuit in the 70's was over the shape of the headstock.

Well, it was over something stupid like that.

But the point remains, that for a while it kept Ibanez from producing some damn fine guitars.

Hey, the artist series is still really good. If you are looking for something like it... you might look at one of the S series (pop some PAF Pro's in it and you have something similiar).

Although, what I REALLY wish they still made was the GR series. I have a GR520, and it plays waaay better than any Les Paul (or any PRS for that matter) that I've ever played. Has better electronics, nice gold hardware.. very attractive, but it didn't cost nearly as much of course.
