hey everyone,

I have a question about a part of Adrian Smith's solo in the trooper.

when you play this

-----------------------------------------------------------------
--12-h15----------12-h15----------12-h15----------12-h15---------
----------14b(16)---------14b(16)---------14b(16)--------14b(16)-
-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------

do you hold the bended fourteens whilst you 12h15 (never let go of the string that is) or do you let go each time? also do u use your ring or pinky to do the hammer on? which is easier.

if anyone can help me thats much appreciated!

Thanks!

Dispy :)

Man, this is a twist off a classic Hendrix riff except he'd be picking each note (instead of hits and pulls) and be going back down to the B (12th fret) before doing the bend up to it on the G string (Voodoo Child & original Redhouse).

What you've gotta do is play each note (including the bend) equally with respect to time - ie. do the riff as a triplet. Don't hold the bend, just use it to go back up to the B on the B string ala Johnny B. Good.

Hendrix didn't use his pinky ever except for the odd double stop and if that's the case for you then you play the 12th fret with your first finger, the 15th with your third, and then the bend with your second. ... If you use your pinky then the 15th is the fourth finger and the bend is the ring finger.

The easiest and the fastest way to play that lick is to bend with the middle and hammer with the ring fingers.
