While I love the styles of Clapton, Vai and Vaughn...I would say the style that I admire the most is probably Robert Cray. He plays so fearlessly and powerfully, but yet has such a smooth touch, plus his voice is downright awesome with a soul and blues mix.....Robert Cray all the way.
Knock, knock

hie..i'm a newcomer this forum....although when debating on the best guitarist, i prefer talking about the styles of those guitarists who r good in their own playing....the techniques used, whatever techniques they use will be for us to evaluate and put into our playing too.

for those who know Rush, you know Alex Lifeson ROCKS. But I just like his style. nobody makes music like he does. he is truly on of the most original guitarist. also, watch him play. he acts strange, but its cool. watch him use a wah pedal. he seems to talk the sounds he trys to make, its freakin' awsome. Rush Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!

check out Django Reinhardt- when you listen to his runs, consider that he did them with only 2 fingers- the last 3 were burned beyond use when he was a young man.
