It is common practice (for all I know) when recording an acoustic guitar to use two mikes, one above the hole, and the other oneabove the neck, picking up the scratching. I find recording this way gives more atmospheric qualities to the music. However if you use same (nylon) strings for a longer while they die a little bit inside, so there's less noise, but also less colour, which may yet produce an interesting sound.
