i'm begining to think i might be tone deaf because i can't semm to tell how far to bend up to get a decent bend.

am i doing it wrong or is it just that i'm not pushing far enough?

also does any1 know how to do a pull off after a bend without getting that buzzing twang on the fret board??

so i'm not the best guitarist in the world i'll get there sumday :)

I dont thnk its really common to pull off from a bend... or do you mean just stop the note ringing once its fully bent?
Imagine your bending the note with your third finger, once its fully bend and your about to release it, let the string lift from the fret board but keep your finger touching it lightly to mute it.
Also with bend its good practice and technique to "get as many fingers behind the bend as possible" (Billy Gibbons) If your bending the 14th fret with you third finger then your first and second fingers could fret the 13th and 12th frets, if they arent being used. This gives you more control I feel.
Also smaller gauge strings, and tuning your guitar half a step down (which is common in rock bands) makes the strings slacker and easier to bend.

strange buzzing twang?? That doesn't sound right. Might be a problem with your action. All strings have a twangy sound, but buzzing is either from not holding down the string hard enough or action being messed up.

To learn the ranges of bends. Try them with a tuner. Practice playing notes and bending them til the tuner says your playing one note up. Once you see how far you had to bend, you should see how to cut that in half to make a 1/4 bend. Practice your bends like this for awhile and you'll start to get it.

if ur still having trouble bending to the right pitch then do a union bend

--------
-12--------
-14b16---

so play a B with your first finger and bend to B with your middle finger and bend until u hear the pitches become equal

DO WOT THE WIZARD SAID!!!!! you can also use this in live situations if your not feeling very confident an also it gives a good kinda distorted sound even if you dont bend up to the right note, its one of my favourite sounds that you can make when just messin bout on guitar.

when doin a pull off after a bend do not just bend the string and let go hopin it will work cos it wont (well not for me anyway) try bending it up an then bring the bend back down again very quickly an the pulling off practice it slow but should be quite easy to do.

and also work on trying to vibrato the bend

its kind of the same idea that slide guys use, they slide into the note and lightly vibrato the slide back and forth so that they have the right pitch

so when u bend, get into the vacinity of the note but shake the string somewhat while bent, it gives u a nice smooth sound

Yeah unison bends are really cool. The only concern is you want to learn how far to bend a note by hearing it alone. Since when you bend a string alone, you don't have another pitch playing to tell you when your in tune. Both are cool, just pointing that out.
