I'm thinking on composing music for movies or tv shows on the side, I've talked to a couple people about this idea and they have shown me the right direction to go.

i love the way the composer captures the feel and beat of the scence in the movie or tv show/series. I was wondering if anyone has thought about going into this...or have gotten their work displayed in this sense?

It occurs to me that you could record a score for an existing movie and use it as part of a portfolio (not for commercial gain of cause).

All you need to do is stripe a section of video and off you go, you can use midi to synch to SONAR or Pro-tools or your daw or whatever and you are good to go.

I've been wanting to get into film scoring too. :) Once I get out of this rut in life that I'm in, I'm definitely taken classes on that. Most of the music I write is inspired by movies so it seems logical.

Best of luck to you too. There's a program that Sonic Foundry puts out that you can actually put music to video, it's called Vegas video. It's just like Acid, but you can insert video strips as well. Cool program, I have the demo of it. You can check that out as well. Does Sonar and Protools have video editing to???

thanks alot. I think maybe sonar does but im not sure, and i've only seen the limited version of protools.

I've been wanting to get vegas video for a long time, but i never have the money. Everyone praises the program though so i think it would be well worth the money.

I love Vegas Video and Acid. I have both and I love them. They have loop packs for movie scoring etc. I just love how easy the programs fuction. If you have any questions for more in-depth discussion, please feel free to contact me.

Yeah from what I have seen, Vegas video is definitely worth the money. They have a new version out which allows you to create DVD quality videos backed by a professional editing system. It would be nice to have the extra cash, cause I'd love to update my programs and get stuff like protools and sonar. My software library is so 2000, it's pathetic. Acid pro 2.0 is really cool, I know they let you dl the express for free.

I suffer - You should check out Danny Elfman if you haven't already, he did alot of really awesome movie scores. He's badarse!
