Finally got round to going to the local guitar shop and thought I would share with you my findings.

The shop was small and the guy I talked to seemed friendly. I sat a varity of guitars on my lap and strummed a few for style and sound. I held a few to check weight and stuff.

Out of all the guitars I tried the one I liked the look of was the most uncomfortable to sit with. It was a ibanez looky likey.

The shape I felt most at home with was a les paul gibson shape. The roundy looking one I always pictured some blues dude doing his wiggly bending tunes on :)

As for price it came out at £189 ($300ish) reduced from £299 ($400ish). It wasnt a make I was familiar with, in fact I forget which it is now but I took a guitar playing friend with me and he assures me that ...

"The action is pretty good, not too low and not too high for a beginner"

and ...

"For a beginners guitar it seems very nice."

Wish I had a model number for you but it looked in general pretty clean for the money although I doubt it will sound like a guitar from godsmack im assured a distortion pedal (I think thats it) will help that out or maybe when I learn to play a new guitar.

Thoughts?

If it feels good to you and you are comfortable with it, get it. Don't procrastinate. Run right now and buy it. If they are closed, stand vigil at the door until they open again. If someone beats you to the guitar before you get into the door, pick up the Ibenhad lookey likey and beat him repeatedly over the head with it until he drops it, then dive bomb and catch it before it can get a dent...well if it gets a dent maybe you can get a discount on it...

But seriously, it's hard to find a nice guitar that you are comfortable with, so don't let it get away.
So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

Go in with a blind fold, so to speak. Doesn't matter what the headstock says, if the thing feels right and sounds good, it's the one.
