I was thinking about the Hot Rails for my Tele too. Sorry I can't really help you out with the Hot Rails since I never did try them, but I can tell you that I've had a lot of people steering me towards Joe Barden T-style pickups. They were designed for Danny Gatton and are used in a lot of Bruce Springsteen's guitars, including the famous Esquire. These are more expensive, I think $135 each.
