Brian May is a God in my book. He's the reason I started to play guitar. His solos are so tuneful, he just widdle. He's admired by Vai and Satriani and 1million trillion other guitarist and other musicians.

I was wondering
1: Does anybody else like him on this site?
2: And why isn't he on the section with the Vai's and Satches?

Thanks for reading, Jim

I grew up listening to Queen and Mays unique sound. I really admire him as a guitarist.

I do enjoy his style a lot, but God, I don't know about that. Queen is a unique band though.

I wonder if you got his autograph if you could sell it on E-Bay as God's autograph. The possibilities!
Is there another Brian May I (we) should know about... or were you trying to be funny?

Yes, Brian May is god!!! That's what my signature used to be until I changed because I thought no one here liked Brian May. It's nice to see another fan.
"Lets see… well I play the guitar and when I'm not playing the guitar, I think about playing the guitar. My other favorite instrument, is the guitar and if I aspired to play any other instrument, it would be the guitar...

I can’t sing so I sing through my guitar. So when the sound guy says: “Your guitar is too loud!” I think: "Why does he never say that to the vocalist?"

Actually , brian may is mostly known for his unique guitar sound. Besides, your beloved slash and guns and roses as a whole wouldnt have existed at all without brian may and his guitar tone..

Yeah... whats wrong with his guitar tone you crettin ;). Its not my favourite tone i definatly prefer a lot of other guitarists tones but his tone is unique and good.
By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

No, Blacksteen just has his own opinon... god forbid. Not once in my post did I say I didn't like Brian May. I was just being sarcastic. I guess I'm going to have start putting a little note at the bottom of every post that says "not sarcasm." Actually I think Brian May is a good guitarrist, and if you ever wish to assume something about me... think again. I am a female, and I could either be in a bitchy mood or pmsing. So f*ck you.... I mean I love you.

I'd feel ashamed of that little immaturity commect except for the fact that someone was comparing Brian May to God, and I'm sure that could of offended someone. Plus I'm a 15 year old... its my porocative to be immature. Also, I was defending myself.

That's what I've been trying to tell you Axl_rose. Guns n' roses are very big fans of Queen and held Brian May with high regard and respect. Just watch the tribute and AIDS concert they did for Freddie Mercury for free- especially the interviews.

As with his sound- not everyone like's out of phase sounds but to each his own. I still think that his tone is the best because it is different and proper to the style of their music- its one of the most distinguished sounds in rock history ever- and it's pretty inovative too. Most musicians rely on production model guitars but this guy actually created his own sound by using a home made guitar and amp created by his friend and Queen bassist, John Deacon. It's also through the vast tonal capabilities of his guitar that he was able to make his guitar sound in many different ways, especially when he harmonizes his guitar to imitate an orchestra or a brass section of a jazz band. I think many people underestimate this guy.

To anyone offended with the use of the word "god"

Also, when we were referring to Brian May as god, it was more like a god with a small "g" not "G"- i don't know if others refer to him this way- atleast I know I do so I hope I don't offend anyone. To those uninformed, this expression was commonly used in the old days by the greeks and romans when showing their admiration to someone who is of great skill such as a hero, an athlete, or an emperor- it's supposed to be the highest form of flattery. I just idolize Brian May so much that I'm just applying a similar gesture- just as everyone who admired eric clapton used to raise banners that say: Eric clapton is god.

Woa guys!!
First off! What so impressive about his tone? It sounds like an epiphone thru a 10 watt practice amp! Man it hardly makes you go "wow!! how does he get a guitar to sound like that!!". Check out slash tone on 'Estranged', thats impressive! I think brian mays guitar tone is really annoying, sounds like a kazoo!

Yea Im aware of Guns n Roses liking of Queen but calm down! Theres about 10 bands infront of Queen as higher influences!

the way he makes up his tone is more complicated than what you're thinking axl_rose- it's not just simply plugging an epi through a practice amp. He uses a deacy amp to create variations in tone which comes in handy when he's making layers of sounds and harmonies and stuff- and believe me, his sound doesnt just sound like an epiphone through a practive 10 watt amp at all- if it is, then it would've been very easy to imitate his tone and his tone wouldn't have been "distinct." But up until now, no one can copy brian. Some folks get very close- and all of this, thanks to Brian May for sharing his secrets and for sharing some of his equipment by allowing certain companies to build them from his specifications- but no one can play exactly like brian may- that's how unique his tone is.
