Ok, if you guys have never listened to Crime of the Century, by Supertramp, you're missing out on one of the major albums of the 20th century.

It's not only well mixed and produced, there's hidden meanings all through the album. Plus the album is a story of life and it loops from beginning to end.

GNR - Appetite For Destruction
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Pink Floyd - Dark Side
Steve Vai - Passion and Warfare
Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien
Shawn Lane - Powers of Ten
Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel.

The Who's "Tommy" Hands down.

Pink Floyd's "The Wall" comes in a close second, and dark side squeaks into third.

Fourth is Frank Zappa's "Apostrophe"

Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh are Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast" "Powerslave" and "Piece of Mind" in no particular order.

pink floyd-wish you where here. and echoes, if that counts as an authentic album.

black sabbath-master of reality...the nogilista of that album makes me feel like i should be surfing, and i dont know why.

children of bodom-follow the reaper

iron maiden-somewhere in time

metallica-kill em all

the decemberists-her majesty

this is a total narrow-minded favorites list. flames ensuing? haha.

hmm, lesse now, from one decade, starting in the early 60's .....

"If You Can Believe Your Eyes And Ears" - The Mamas And The Papas
"Pet Sounds" - Beach Boys
"Sunshine Superman" - Donovan Leitch
"Elephant Mountain" - The Youngbloods
"Sargeant Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band" - The Beatles
"American Beauty" - The Grateful Dead
"Grand Funk Live" - Grand Funk Railroad
"Climbing" - Mountain
"Are You Experienced" - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
"Led Zeppelin II" - Led Zeppelin
"Abraxus" - Carlos Santana
"Blood, Sweat, And Tears" - Blood, Sweat And Tears
"Bad Manors" - Crowbar
"Live At The Filmore East" - Allman Brothers Band
"The Captain And Me" - The Dobie Brothers
"A Question Of Balance" - The Moody Blues
"The Magician's Birthday" - Uriah Heep
"Exile On Main Street" - The Rolling Stones
"Tommy" - The Who
"Black Sabbath" - Black Sabbath
"Dark Side Of The Moon" - Pink Floyd

There's a whole lot of albums that don't make the list because of too many 'filler' tracks. Motown was downright vile for that. And I haven't even mentioned any of the Blues albums from that period...

It's bit too soon to say if any of the more recent stuff is going to stand the test of time.[/font] ;)

For me my list would go like this.....

1.)Led Zeppelin IV (Zoso) - It basically changed my life in the way that i think about music and writing music.....it still gives me goosebumps when i listen to it.

2.)Band of Gypsys - It defines the style i chose in my guitar playing, and not to mention Machine Gun has one of my favorite intros of all time.

3.)Wish You Were Here - ....enough said.
