For YEARS and years he was virtually unknown, but still putting out great music.


I feel that Satriani did raise that bar... he influenced many of us on this board... and was one of the best talents of his time and still is.... and when Steve Vai strated going solo... he just raised that bar some more.... i still cant find any NEW ( NEW) guitar players who can raise that bar again. ( although eric sardinas is very good).

SRV was definatley mainstream... back in his day.... when you turned on the radio... you had a good chance of hearing Pride and Joy or Couldn't Stand the Weather... i call that mainstream.
