I got this straight from their website, about the Intelliflex...

"Produce up to four of the greatest quality effects simultaneously, and use Rocktron’s onboard HUSH noise reduction before the effects to silence any noise from your amp or preamp without disrupting the decay of reverb and delay effects."

You shouldn't need a external unit to take care of the noise.
