Ok heres an example of my pickups positions. Its a coil tapped two Humbucker deal.

Position 10: Treble Pickup
Position 9: Outside Coils
Position 8: Series Single-Coils
Position 7: Parallel Single-Coils
Position 6: Bass Pickup

ANd I know what each sounds like but what do they mean by outside coils, series single coils, and parallel single coils?
Have you noticed that the best songs always seem be the most simple take, the classic song, "batman"... I mean its just Batman and Na...

Each humbucker has two coils in it. For "Outside Coils" your sitches connect one coil from the neck pickup (nearest to the neck), and one coil from the bridge pickup (nearset to the bridge). This pair of coils is located 'outside' of the pair that is not used.

"Series" means that the coils are connected so that there is only one path for current flow - through one, and then the other.
____(pup)____(pup)____

"Parallel" means that the ends of the coils are tied together so that there are two (parallel) paths for current flow.
