Ok guys..... I've been thinking of getting a real bonafide tube amp for awhile, but simply don't have the cash. Right now I have a crate 30 watt (GFX i think)..... that has distortion that sounds really crummy. Wat I've done is bought an RP200 by digitech, and I am satisfied with it, but I would like to experience using real tubes and such, at a low cost. What I am not looking for is a huge dream rig, with giant stacks. Even a 20 watt or 10 would work for me, if i cud mike it. But I havent found an amp that has that low power, and the real crankin tone. I've also herd talk of the variac, but I don't know much about it, just that Randy Rhoads used it and it has somthing to do with power. Lordathestrings, I heard ur the expert on this, any suggestions? (I mean from ne1)

thanx

"Lets see… well I play the guitar and when I'm not playing the guitar, I think about playing the guitar. My other favorite instrument, is the guitar and if I aspired to play any other instrument, it would be the guitar...

I can’t sing so I sing through my guitar. So when the sound guy says: “Your guitar is too loud!” I think: "Why does he never say that to the vocalist?"

The same topic is getting bashed around on this thread. It contains some links to previous discussions. You might also want o add this thread and the links in it.

I don't use my WeeBeastie much because the concept of using tiny amps on stage and for jamming only works if everyone buys into the program. When the whole band agrees to go this route, it works out very well.
