Haven't noticed much talk here about bottleneck/slide playing. I'm a real sucker myself for a nice bit of slide, both on electric and acoustic. Famous players, we're talking Ry Cooder, Duane Allman and Lowell George but I also rate Will Ray of the Hellecasters, Dave Hlubek of Molly Hatchett and old Satch can turn in some fine slide. Who do you rate and what tunes do you reckon are worth checking out?

I like Ry Cooder and the soundtrack he did for "Crossroads".

I second Duane Allman. Sometimes his slide work makes me want to cry.

Also, David Gilmour has a unique lap steel technique. You can hear it on "One of These Days" and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pts. VI-X".
... and that's all I have to say about that.
