Anyone else out there a Deth Fan. Peace Sells.....But Who's Buying, and Rust In Peace, I believe are 2 of the greatest Metal albums ever. Rust in Peace is the only other album that gives Master of Puppets a run for it's money!!

I think the technical musicianship of rust in piece out-do master of puppets, but I think master of puppets has the best overall songs.I dont care for mustaines voice either.

I have a megadeth tab book for rust in peace. It is technical and is a lot harder than metallica stuff. My friend plays loads of metallica and it is simple compared to megadeth stuff. My friends mum has a friend who has the bass player of megadeth as his cousin :)
By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

I've got the World Needs a Hero ablum (I think thats what its called) n I aint too impressed. Nothing but reused riffs and tired solos. Not a an of Mustys voice either.

Yeah, I agree The World needs a Hero isnt too great, as with most bands their best music was made when they were young, angry, and addicted to drugs. I also found Mustaine's voice annoying when I first heard it(Sweating Bullets), but I eventually got used to it. Compared to St.Anger however, The World Needs a Hero looks like a masterpiece. As I find St.Anger an utter piece of ****.

I love Megadeth and i personally I think Dave Mustaine is the best lead guitar/singer in metal his solos may not be quite as good as friedman's but they are still great and if any one hasn't got the megadeth live dvd do your self a favor and get it dave seems to be in top form and Al Pitrelli does a fantastic job I think he is very overlooked in playing skills.Megadeth rule lets hope they get back together.

p.s. I am new here so I just wanted to say hi to everyone :)

For me Megadeth died after Rust in peice as did metallica after ...and justice for all

They were (Megadeth) very good back in the days but now it's all about trying to fit a dying music style into the pop culture or our time.

Metal had it's great years now it's all about hip hop and pop and that's good they too have the right to easy acces of their favorite music. Everybody's turn I guess.

I turn to europe for good metal nowadays. Still Megadeth was a big part of my high school years and I really like listening to their older stuff.

If Dave Mustaine stopped trying to do high pitch vocals , and didn't follow Metallica's footsteps , probably Megadeth would have been a lot better.

Mustaine's voice is horrible and the guitar playing is bad except for the album "Rust in Peace".
I'm glad that they're done!
If I leave here tomorrow,
Will you still remember me?

Dave Mustaine is not the absolute best guitarist certainly not the best singer. However, I would deffinatley rank him in the top ten greatest metal guitarists ever. As far as overall metal musicians he is undoubtedly one of the most legendary metal talents to take the stage. Mustaine is a genius song writer, I can't think of any other one person that has written as many geniun original style of songs then he has. His own unique guitar style and song writing ability is what has set him apart from most other bands. Mustaine is Megadeth, you can replace every member except Mustaine and Megadeth will live on. In fact Mustaine is the only original member of Megadeth today, and he pushes on with the same powerful metal attitude which made Megadeth so great. In my opinion the last three Megadeth albums were slacking and almost struggling. Megadeth now with new members came out with a new album called "The system has failed". This new album is straight hard metal, although not Mustaines best work it is however a huge leap to getting the sound of Megadeth back on track, to what I feel is pure Heavy Metal.

Dave Mustaine and Megadeth have been a huge inspiration in my life, their music in my eyes is incredible, genius, and a true artform. I had the pleasure of seeing Megadeth in concert, and I have to say I have never seen anyone put more effort in a performance to give their fans all they have. I admire and respect Mustaine for his amazing abilites and the music he has givin us over the years. I will always be a diehard Megadeth fan and support my greatest hero Dave Mustaine, without a doubt a legendary musician.

I think many fans would have stayed if marty didn't leave. He came up with the most incredible solo's.Mustaine has written some of the most original and just plain awsome riffs and songs,so he is legendary in my book...I never did care for his voice, but the musicianship redeems the early albums(everything up to and including RIP).

first of all stop ditching dave's voice it's a different style and i like it. he is a hell of guitarist. marty was good but because he played alot of bends and vibratos and his solos got your attention more. but megadeth always had 2 rhythm/lead guitarist at the same time. Also metallica's music is withered away megadeth although about 4 different groups still making good music thanks to dave's leadership also a born again christian hats off to you dave.

Well, he invented a name for it, but by no means did he invent the technique. I was using the technique before I ever heard of Megadeath or Mustain. Same thing goes for Eddie. He by no means invented tapping, but is credited with inventing it, and/or making it popular.

I've heard the term used as "spider riffing" never really heard it used as "spider picking" this would make me think its a picking technique like alternate picking or something.... but spider riffing is a name for a riff in which your hand walks around like a spider on the fretboard... I first heard of this technique when I was getting into a lot of Dave Matthews acoustic stuff. He uses a lot of wierd chords and movement in his riffs.... I guess an example would be like this.... This is from the intro of "Warehouse". I tabbed it from memory so I'm not sure of the strumming and what not... but this is the general idea. Download the song if you really want to know the pattern.

+|--------------------------------------
+|---------7-7-7------------------------
+|-----11--9-9-9-9--9------------------
+|-9-9-9---------10-10-----------------
+|-7-7----------------------------------

OR heres one from another Dave Matthews song... "Sattelite"

+|--------------------------------------
+|--------------------------------------
+|---8--6--5--3--6-------8--6--5-------
+|--6--4--3--1--4--3----6--4--3--------
+|-4-------------------4----------------

you play the first part 3 times then end on the last part. But anyway.... thats what I've come to know spider riffing as... and i could have came up with better examples if i had some time to prepare... But I'm at work so I came up with the best I could... Feel free to tell me I'm wrong and feel free to post some examples from other genres since the acoustic genre isn't huge on this specific forum.

I like Dave Mustains guitar playing but not his voice, Marty Friedmans solo makes them even more better.....I rate them better than Metallica when it comes to guitar work.....but when it comes to songwriting and vocals, Metallica has an edge. Coz in the end songwriting is still what matters.
Guitarplaying is 1 Percent Inspiration, 99 Percent Perspiration... :)

Yeah Megadeth's best work was with Marty Friedman, definitely Rust In Peace... Hangar 18 is a fine example. If you like Marty Friedman you should check out Jason Becker (Perpetual Burn) on which he guest appears with a few solos... it's one of the best instrumental albums ever IMHO. Or even check out Cacophony where he played side by side with Jason Becker.
Back to Megadeth though, Mustaine is an incredible rhythm guitarist (his leads are good but not close to Friedman), I mean the guy could sing and play Polaris at the same time  ... I saw thim in Dublin on the Rust in Peace tour many years ago.... absolutely amazing live, just like on the cd's, note for note perfect playing. Although, hats off to Chris Poland who is also an excellent guitarist, he added a distinct style to Peace Sells...

ok ....play a barred d in the fifth pos...the cheating kind with just your index and ring fingers then you jump to barred a sharp sixth fret middle and pinky and go chromatically down or up the the neck in this fashion. dave said he came up with it so that is all i have to go on, he called it spider picking.
