On a Horse when your listewning to iron maiden. There music tends to get you into the galloping mode.

duh- duh- dah- duh- duh- dah- duh- duh- dah

( listening to the trooper )

And doesn't feel like your frikin slaying a dragon when your listening to bands like savatoge and stratovarious ( power metal bands). Like your in the mideival days.

wel;l yeah.... anyone else agree?

Well, thats kind of the whole point.

Although I've always thought that powermetal ranged from slaying a dragon, to flying on ones back.

Horses are scary, and riding them is even more scary. Maybe thats why I don't like Iron Maiden! No offense to anyone who likes them.

I'm not offended, I'm just surprised that there are people who don't like Iron Maiden. Such a solid band.

Oh, by the way DreamRyche:

I am the King of the FOREEESSSTT!
With A gruff and and GRR and a ROYAL GROWL!

Not all of Iron Maiden's songs are about weird Lord of the Rings-esque stuff. E.G. "Aces High" "Two Minutes to Midnight" "22 Acacia Avenue" "Number of the Beast" "Flight of Icarus" (one of my favorites) etc. None of these are about Elves and dragons and whatnot.

I didnt imply that iron maiden was midevl music.... i said those other bands were.

But on another note.... number of The Beast and Aces Hign are pretty awesome songs. They are really good guitar players.... Murray and whos the other one i cant ebelieve i forgot????/

but i think Degarmo and Wilton ( being such a ryche fan)
are better than them..... well not lateley :(

yeah...

I'd rather listen to 'brave new world' more than 'operation mindcrime'.
The other guitarist is adrian smith.

Me and my brother were listening to some Master of Puppets and some Kill 'em All. Gotta love the heavy metal gallop.

i love fantasy. and i guess thats why i love fantay metal like rhapsody and blind Guardian. But not all of those bands are centered around medieval or ancient fantasy. Virgin Steele is more like the ancient greek type of thing, ayreon does those space-opera stuff, running wild is into piracy, savatage focusses on rather realistic stories - and they all do a pretty good job transporting that feeling.

iron maiden never realy made me think of things like that. maiden, to me, is more like the straightforward metal band, who makes metal for the pure sake of it.

He never had the patience to that playing guitar requires. He's an avid music fan though. He's 10 years older than me (32), and I give him a lot of credit for making me musically conscious as a youth. I remember coming home from kindergarten and wanting to watch "Tom and Jerry", but he was in high school and got home an hour before me and bogarted our TV with MTV. I guess that early exposure to rock music paid off :D

hammerfall have got that galloping rhythem in a lot of their songs.
By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

Has anyone ever heard the Number Of The Beast that Zwan (Billy Corgan) did with vocals from Matt Sweeney (I think)?

I think most people won't like it because it's too different and they took out two 'verses' as such, but it's quite an excellent and simple rendition of the original.

It was on the opening credits to the movie 'Spun' and the song is actually credited to Djali Zwan (Zwans acoustic alter-ego, if anyone was curious) and can be found on the Djali Zwan single CD 'Honesty'.

Anyway I'm done.
