All of those old style pedals give lots of feedback, hum, etc.
The only solution is a noise gate of some sort, and I mean that. Yngwie uses a Boss NS-2, which is small and cheap, although i prver a dbx quad gate.

I've been using either an Ibanez TS9 or a DOD250, and have recently began using the Yngwie pedal instead (i like it a bit better)..
