i've been writing solo acoustic instrumentals lately. the way i do it is basically just strum chords, get a chord progression that i like and fingerpick a melody on top of that. does anyone have any other tricks they use when writing an instrumental. i'm worried that my songs will start to sound the same if i write them the same way. i don't want to think about the writing too much, i just want to play it. if i have a certain trick that i can goof around with, i figure a song will appear. any suggestions for solo instrumentals?? thanks
