what would you do?

this seems to be my delimma for the moment seeing as i'm actually building a bass rig from...well...scratch. unfortunately this doesn't give me enough to go all out on a warwick, some thumpers (8x10), or anything like that... but for guitar, what would you do?

$3k ain't that little! I don't have $3000 worth of gear right now...

But I guess if you're in that bracket, $3000 is sort of in between "just be happy with it, it makes noise" and "Oh my goodness, are those strings made out of pure gold?"

Here's my shopping list (mind you, for guitar):

Gibson LP Studio: $999
Traynor YCV80 (2x12, 80W): $749
Dunlop 535Q Crybaby: $109
Boss GT-6: $400
GHS Boomers Light (6-pack): $20
A dozen picks: $4
Hardshell case: $60
Monster cable or PLanet Waves circuit breaker cable: $35
Dunlop Straploks: $15
Julian Thomas Seatbelt strap: $30

Now, what to blow the last $579 on...
Ah, why not:

AKG Guitar Bug Wireless system: $250 (comes with a free mic until 12/31/03!) because I hate when I'm tripping all over my cables!!! :@
The $329 left over should do me for a nice Simon & Patrick 12 string.

... and that's all I have to say about that.

ALL generalizations are WRONG
