I like any style of solo as long as its played tastefully INTO not over the song.Allot of players make the mistake of masterbating on the guitar,and blowing fancy technique and speed when its not called for.
I personally am a blues rooted southern rock/rock/hard rock style player myself.I really get off on a deep soulfull lead that makes you feel something.But at the same time I sometimes like my Yngwie,and Dio era Vivian Campbell.
I'm not into the whole Satriani,Eric Johnson vibe but I can respect them.
And allthough I'm not a country fan I have to say most proficient country players can hand a rock guitar player there @ss on a platter.
