what should we do now?
we just recorded a new demo and with the sales we are wanting to know what to do. if we should buy a pa but i think the singer should do that i mean is he gonna pitch in on my half stack? i was thinking to get an equlizer and speakers so all of our sound is at the right level. is that right and how much could that cost

I think everyone is in it together, so all the members should decide on what is the most important equipment at the moment and all pitch in on it. Thats what my band did. First thing was buying a PA. Nobody has ego problems, so it was no problem.

A PA can be used to get everyone singing, backing vocals are a very powerful tool !
The bands sound is not the responsibility of one person; it is the culmination of everyone pulling together!

I do agree, though, that singers often tend not to pitch in for equipment/expenses, since they don't play an instrument, they're not used to buying gear.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

well yeah thats what i mean if it is fair to work our asses off to get our equipment and the singer just gets his handed to him. but i do also agree that we are a band and WE all make the desicions. and i cant spell
but the only thing i want is for our music to sound good live i dont care if the album sucks cuz if you have a good live show you can kick some people up. so i dont know if buying a tool to equal our sound out would be very effective. then buying huge subs and speakers. i just dont know

There's a big difference between buying a small vocal PA, and a big PA system for the whole band.
If it's only a small vocal PA you're talking about, I think it's only normal that the singer(s) provides it.
If you're talking about a complete PA system for the band, the whole band should pitch in.
Thing is though, you don't need a complete PA system for rehearsels, and hopefully when you play live a PA is provided by the venue. But, you DO need a vocal PA to practise.
That's just my 2 cents.

Get a good PA system.Relly to get the best sound you shoukld have tops and bottoms and the whole band should be mic'ed and have a soundman mixing all your shows.

For a personal PA just plug a mic through an old guitar amp. It works better than you might think, if you keep the singer the hell away from the guitar player.

I loaned my Ampeg VT-22 to a buddy for just that purpose. They liked the sound so much, they recorded some of their tracks with that setup.
