Hey i bought my brother a marshall power brake but I'm not sure how to use it. Does it plug in, or do you just run through the effects loop at the back of the amp?

NO! DO NOT RUN THE POWERBRAKE THROUGH THE LOOP!!!

First, the amp must be OFF.
Second, connect the speaker-output on the amp with the powerbrake input.
Third, connect the powerbrake-output (just one of them) with the speakercabinet.
Check that the ohm-settings on the amp and speaker match!!

The powerbrake is driven be the power from the output from the amp.

By the way, if you bought it from new, there should be an instruction in the package.
