Last time my teacher showed my the mixolydian, phyrigian, aeolian, lydian, dorian mode and i got how i can use them. i can ply them now in c major to the chords. cmaj7, dm7, em7, fmaj7, G7, am7, hm7b5; but why do exactly this chords fit to c major?? Yes i know thy´re all in c major and c,d,e,..., but why couldn´t i play instead cmaj7 cm7 or cmaj??

I would know how these 5 different modes would look like in d major and i would also soon be able to play them in this key, but which chords would i have to use there? Could i jus play dmaj7, em7, fm7, gmaj7, amaj7)like the these chords above just putting them one fret up, or couldn´t i, which i would guess.
