i have a digitech distortion pedal..plugged into my amp and guitar it works fine for the first 5 mins then the sound stops and i get like a cutting sound going on/off very rapidly...!?!?! weird i know

now i tried re-reading both manuals for amp and pedal in case theres some mono / stereo stuff in the way although the manuals werent any help..

i have a marshal avt 100... and im not using the ac adapter for the pedal cus i need to buy one...could that be the problem ? inbalance of voltage...

I have similar problems when I use a bad cord... might want to try plugging straight into your amp and see if there's a problem. Try both cords using this method. If there's no problems, then you can be pretty sure it's your pedal.

How old is the distortion pedal?
... and that's all I have to say about that.

As Dr_simon said , I think it's the battery , did you check it ?

For the ac adapter , you don't have to get the expensive original digitech one , any ac adapter you have that outputs 9v DC will work just fine (assuming that your pedal like other pedals ,operates with 9v ).

Aaaaa, they never put new ones in when they sell em, the original could have been sitting on a shelf for a year or two.

That has caught me out a more than once !
