I need to choose between a Marshall JMwhatever Head/Cab or a Mesa Roadking Head/Cab. I know your first instinct is MESA! I like, no LOVE mesa, but its really expensive and might not be what i'm looking for. I want a sound that's metal, really deep, v8 engine sounding. I don't know if you listen to old Staind stuff but thats the sound i'm looking for. Download Suffocate by Staind if you can. Also, have a really nice Jazzy clean channel. Thats the sound I want. If you reccomend Marshall, let me know what model and i'll go to guitar center and test it out. Thank you soo much for your input. I really appreciate it.

If you can get your head around the difference between what you need, and what you want, you can save yourself some coin, and please both yourself and your audience.

Get an early-to-mid-70's Ampeg VT-22 2x12 combo, or a V-4 head and some good speakers. Drive the input with a good distortion pedal for endless sustain. Back off the guitar volume a bit to clean it up.

You heard it here first. :D

Man who park Jetta in front of expensive clothing boutique is like statue in park ... both must expect bird-inflicted indignities. :)

you want versatility specially witht oens you want man if you have the cash go for a Road king they ****ing rock im waiting to get my hands on one. but will tak eme a year to save for "thats whats not so cool about them" lol. I personally dont understand people that slag off other brands but for me i think it has to Mesa. but marshalls do rock also. you want versatile Marshall try them Marshall JVM410 it redefines versatility. Enjoy dude.

Definately check out a Marshall JCM 800. Probably not up your alley b/c it doesn't have the greatest clean tone....but nothing can touch 'em when it comes to the overdrive channel...My opinion anyway. I have found that a bit of chorus added to the clean channel makes a huge difference.
