In my own axes, I pair a Dual Sound (4-wire Super Distortion) with a SCHB, and a Tone Zone with a PAF Pro, but I don't play metal. It looks to me like we agree that the DiMarzio Tone Zone is one very kickin' mofo bridge pickup! :D

I don't even like the Super Distortion for metal, I like single coils for metal.

Hell, I use it for mostly jazz kinda stuff.

That depends on what you call metal; Yngwie certainly uses single coils on his strats.
If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?

I got some EMGs on my Ibanez; I got the 89s, they're like 85s only they're splittable. I also got a kill switch fitted so that when the bridge pickup (my 89) is selected I can cut it on and off with this stammering effect. When the bridge and middle pick up are selected the effect is less extreme and more useable - a cut between a trebly hard (optionally humbucker and active or single coil and passive) setting and a softer single coil tone. I'm very happy with my set up and would have no reluctance about recommending 89s to anyone.
