That's an easy one. Just go to the home page here and check out any of the hosts. There's gotta be about a thousand free riffs with mp3's and tabs by now.

If you get stuck in a rut, the best thing to do is try to learn something new. Most people tend to practice and play the same things over and over and it gets them in a rut

Just learn something new and different.

Sometimes I hit notes only dogs can hear.

I try to learn at least one new thing a day (or each time I play) ie a riff, solo, chord, technique, whatever as long as it's completely new.

Pantallica is totally right. Try new stuff and go back to where you got stuck once you start to get less frusterated.
If I leave here tomorrow,
Will you still remember me?

When you reach a fresh perspective of the fretboard and the mental blockades crumble new life will be breathed into your playing. How do you save a stagnating, tiresome recipe? You add new ingredients!

Alright, that was a bit too buddah/emiril live esque...you get the idea though!

(if only I could practice what I preach more often)

Later! \m/

OR, keep on playing the same thing over and over again and something new will come from it. That's how I work. Listening is half the battle too. You want new ideas, listen to new artists or new tunes.

Sometimes I find these days that a little time away from the guitar and even rock music helps. I sometimes get into classical and jazz phases, and there have been times when I'll let two or three days go by without playing guitar. Then, it seems fresh when I pick it up again, and if I end up jamming that day, many times I'll play things that I've never played before.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Sometimes you are just going to be in a rut, and there is absolutely nothing you can do but stick with it. Not everything has an answer, but just keep on playing and eventually you'll pass the plateau.
