List a few. Here's mine

"nothing else matters" - Metallica
"back in black" - AC/DC
the beginning to "sweet child o' mine" - GNR

Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel.

Totally, without hesitation, SAD BUT TRUE...
The opening riff, with the silence that follows the guitar is KILLER... Then there's the drums, and BAM, heaviest riff...

Why are they not impressive? Just coz anybody can play them? If they sound impressive they are impressive. Breaking the law is a cool sounding riff but one of the simplest to play. Doesn't mean it aint impressive.

Making something cool from simple notes is impressive. More impressive than somebody who's been playing for years playing a million notes at lightning speed.

It may be impressing watching some guy wail on the guitar. But I think alot of great music comes from the simpliest of ideas. Nothing against anyone on either side of the coin but good music can tickle both the ear of the musicial elite and the common man. Take Beethoven's Ode to Joy, any one can play the melody within minutes but the tune hasn't lost it's popularity in almost 300 years.

I guess I named this thread wrong. I should've named it something like, "Songs that sound more intimidating to play than they really are". I love all those songs that were mentioned and didn't mean to start an argument over what was impressive and what wasn't.

Ok, some I thought would be hard to play that aren't.

Before I picked up a guitar and before I saw the tab I thought stuff like 'Whiplash' by tallica would be solid to play.

'Fear of the Dark' by Maiden.

when i first heard "Midnight" by Joe Satriani I could hardly believe it was possible to play. I've forgotten the cadenza now but quite honestly it isn't that hard, it was one of the first things I ever played live. It only uses strong fingers and because it crosses strings there isn't the hassle of loosing force with the second tapped note of each arpeggio. The genius was writing something like that!
If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?
