After a little more than 96,000 km, my 1986 Yamaha FJ1200S was getting a little ragged. It turns out the cylinder bores were slightly oval from uneven heat distribution. That's a fairly common problem with air-cooled motors.

I found the mechanic who preps the motors for all the local Legends racers. He's also a motorcycle racing mechanic - the perfect guy to rebuild my FJ!

So... .030" overbore, Stage III Dyna-Jet carb kits, Dyna ignition, new valves & springs, some port work, balancing, tranny shims & undercutting... he figures something like 150 hp in a reliable street machine. :D :D :D

NICE!

I'm seriously considering getting a motorcycle, but it rains here all the time, so the idea definately has it's down sides.

Im not really into solid body 6 stringers, except for the Tele. Much prefer hollow bodied/arch tops.

Currently have an Epiphone Casino archtop
Aria Pro II Integra bass
Gibson ES -137 classic
Dean Edge 4 fretless bass
Martin Jumbo SWJGT

Next on the list..a Gretch Country Gentleman or a Brian Setzer signature. Tops!

Nice guitars out there. Alot of money all on one post.

Cant wait to get my new bike. Haven't made up my mind if I want to get a Harley Fatboy or the new Road King Custom. Both are great looking bikes.

1974 Gibson SG III. I am also thinking of a name, i am thinking frank, in respect to the great tony iomi, but not sure. It has a natural walnut finish, and 2 covered single coils which i ma thinking about plopping out soon and dropping a nice mini humbucker in there.

I want a motorcycle, but that's taking a backseat to getting my Nissan Skyline shipped out stateside (anyone who's seen Fast and the Furious 2 [which sucked, BTW] or played Gran Turismo knows why I am wasting so many hours and dollars shipping a Nissan from Japan). The thing is beautiful... the GTR is what I'm aiming at, 6 cyl turbo, all wheel drive, 4 wheel steering, and of course, it's gotta be a stick... once I get that sucker out here nothing can touch me.

Your kidding me, its a freaking riceburner. Try this. I have a 72 Camaro Rally Sport with a brand new zz430 engine, aluminum heads, special intake, 770 holly carb, dynomax headers, 373 gears, and a 3 speed with a shift kit. I could go on and on about it. I also have a 84 Monte Carlo SS and a 97 Camaro. You'll have to pay to know the info on those.

I would've went with different rear end gears, but that's just me.

My 'vette would beat you both. ;)

Not only do I have the power, (I'm with metalisbest here, you want to know? cough up some dough) but I can take corners better than most cars on the road.

I've taken a 30mph on ramp at 75mph and didn't even squeal the tires.

Pony, I'm sorry, but as a mechanic, he would blow your doors off, you might beat him off the line, but he'd catch up in no time. Unless......you had a can of nitrous. ;)

my 911 would take you.

just as soon as i get the money to buy it
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

True - thats something i also dont like too much - threads that start off with a specific topic like this one and end up in a completely different topic. it would be way better for the discussions if someone who has something else to say that doesnt realy fit into a topic posted it in a new thread. that would be way more interresting i say.
