this is for the 'big' clean, other than that i use a small cloth that came with my sun glasses for the 'small' cleaning.
Guitar Cleanliness
to clean my guitar and bass i use two or three things things, firstly for the frets i use a lemon oil(or a citris oil that i have lying around), a old shirt to apply it, i then use the other side of the ****e to clean the body.

Gaugue(thickness)plays a huge role in longevity and tone.If your gonna play with 9's then definitley go for Elixers. If your gonna play with 10's or up,then ernie balls would be fine.
Could you explain what string gauges do sound-wise for a guitar. For instance I play alot of classic rock stuff, what would be my best bet?
Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel.

If its classic rock and not super heavy/thrash/death metal then give 9's a try.9's are a bit easier to bend too.You could play heavier stuff with 9's but they wont last long.10's give a bit more of a dense tone, while 9's are slightly brighter.11's are great if you dont plan on playing much lead, and strum/pick with your entire arm instead of your wrist.
Anyway...yeah,go try out 9's and see if there comfortable for you and if you like the tone.

Try once,fail twice...
