OK, I'm too lazy to do a search, and want some new input.

Doc just said he hated the Boss CS-3. Why?

What about the Marshall ED Compressor? The MXR reissue?

Thanks for the input!
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Because the CS3 may have added sustain but didn’t compress very well. This is fine if you want to add sustain but sucks if you want compression.
My instructors page and www.studiotrax.net for all things recording.

Ross made some great compressors. I had an offshore model for years that worked great, sounded great, and didn't add any noise.

Now they're damn expensive though.

There are some Ross clone pedals being made now too...you might check them out.

I ended up getting a DOD Milkbox Compressor. Surprisingly enough, it's great. I've had very bad experience with DOD's, but this one is different. It doesn't kill the tone, the bypass isnt that bad, and it's "Hi Expanse" control helps a whole lot as well.

You can check the reviews on harmonycentral.com, I'm not the only one that thinks this compressor is great.

I tried the CS-3; Doc, you were right that thing blew. I also tried the Carl Martin, and didn't like it at all. It colored my tone way too much, and had a very harsh attack that I couldn't get rid of.

You should all check out the DOD milkbox though, I was happily surprised.
