Computer Recording
Well i went out and bought an adapter for my plug so that i can plug my guitar into my sound card. But alas, when i plugged it in i get no sound. Im using it through a distortion pedal its a DOD Grunge pedal and i notice that it also has a stereo jack? Is there any specifications of the adapter? the one's i have says that they convert standard 1/4" adapter to a 3.5mm mini/mono stereo plug? Any comments will help. Thanks

I could be mistaken, but I believe you need an amp. When I tried to plug my guitar directly into the computer I got no sound either. Just plug into your amp normally (taking advantage of any effects you have with it) and then use the line out on the amp to go into the computer.

be sure you're line out isn't for an external speaker- you could quite easily kill your sound card. Me, I would rather use a mic anyway. Also, keep in mind that recorded audio sucks up massive amounts of HD space and that recording requires some serious transfer speed on your HD's behalf. It sounds to me like you're just messing around for now, but if you plan to get serious about it, you'll probably need a dedicated "work station." I'm not planning on doing computer based recording and editing seriously until I can afford to replace my trusty PowerMac 8600/300 with a new PowerMac G4 (well, probably a G5 or 6 at the rate I'm earning money).

Yeah, I had fruityloops for a while, but I only had the trial version. The export-midi thing didn't work for me though, so I had to export in wav., which ate up way to much space on my song (I'm trying to get it below 500k)
