Guitar Tricks web site is like a technically smart guy at a bar wearing nice clothes, working on his pick-up lines... whilst neglecting personal hygiene.
(the marketing looks bright and slick; and he seems quite capable and intelligent; but... something still seriously stinks)
Outdated web site implies ineptitude at the subconscious level.
Neglecting actual site functionality whilst prioritizing content and marketing might seem smart; but it's just indicative of having no understanding of why customers choose products in the first place.
The majority of customers don't choose the best product.
They choose the product that is P R E S E N T E D in a manner that is most appealing to them at the subconscious level.
Thus:
Prioritizing marketing over site functionality is utterly ridiculous.
The 60 day deal with the site functionality being what it is...
You might as well just save everyone's time and give people the financial equivalent of using your bandwidth for 60 days.
You don't need to offer a better deal and give away more free stuff.
You need to get your web site functionality together.
