Yo!

What courses are you all working through right now?

I’m hitting pause on the metal course for a bit. It’s awesome, but I don’t feel ready to dive into all the lead work yet. I’m basically relearning guitar from the ground up. I wrapped up all the rhythm material, but the lead section feels like something I want to approach with a stronger foundation.

Then Black Label Society dropped Engine of Demolition, and it clicked. Zakk Wylde is basically blues‑metal. That pushed me toward a better plan.

So I’m switching gears and going through the entire Blues course next. Once I finish that, I’m rolling straight into Jazz. Santana was one of my early favorites, and that Latin‑jazz phrasing always stuck with me.

My ideas are simple. Blues for feel. Jazz for phrasing. Metal for precision and speed.

When I finish Blues and Jazz, I’ll come back to metal leads with way more intention and emotion behind the music. I’ll still keep learning metal rhythm in between. I’ve almost got Angry Again nailed at full tempo. That chorus is rough. Dave Mustaine is definitely a unique player.

I'm just curious what everyone else is studying right now.

Thanks for reading, and be safe.

Love the enthusiasm! That is what keeps me at it day after day. Just working on the songs right now myself.

Hello Kyle, Like you, I'm starting from the ground up and I am finishing up the basic Fundamentals 2 course.

I have about 5 or 6 more chapters to go. After that the plan is to start the Blues course. I like a few different genres of music, but I do believe that Blues is the foundation for a lot of it, so it just makes sense to me to start there.

Good luck with your studies.

Lou

Yeah, man. I tried checking out some of your old YouTube links on the forum, but the videos were busted or something. If you got anything up, I'd enjoy the share. I know how frightening it can feel to share.

I dropped them new pickups in and got the height dialed in, brother. My Jackson was singing tonight!

Thanks for reading, and be safe.

Nice! How's your playing been feeling lately? Do your hands hurt from practicing too long? haha. My right wrist gets tired if I play for longer than an hour and a half.

Man, they go back. It's easier to show how to do something that to write it out. But they are archived if there was one you were interested in

My playing has never been anything  anyone would be impressed with, but I'm working on that!

My hands are ok, it's my finger tips that feel it most after a good bit of practice, but that's just callouses building up. The price we have to pay, right?

I’m working through the Core Learning System and Blues course on GuitarTricks to build a stronger foundation before diving into lead. I split practice between fundamentals, Blues phrasing, and jamming so things actually stick. Trees Hate You

Hey, O'lenna!

I like that you got the jamming time in there! Do you get a lot of time to practice during the week?
