I have a marshall vs30r amp and if I put the gain right up and bass, midd, treble all high I get a pretty cool distortion but then I don't have the luxury of changing patches (and its sounds terrible for soloing). I have the gt-3 through the clean channel and I can get good enough effects for everything else except heavy/thrashy distortion.

Thanks but I know the general idea I just don't have the time or skill to tweak it. I'm sure anybody who's been playing for a while and has one would have tweaked a patch or two.
