Hey, all!

I'm originally from Massachusetts but transplanted to Florida back in 2011.

I am 50 years old and wanted to play guitar since I was about 12. It was more a pipe dream back then, and as a kid, I prioritized other things. At 49, December before last, I picked up a horrible guitar off of Amazon, but it was enough to get me hooked. After that I bought a few more, gave one away, and traded one in. I currently sit with two of them and I'm enjoying the hell out of my journey!

Actually, the aspect of learning guitar that I have found most challenging is the isolation. The people around me are interested in listening to music, but not in how it's created. I don't have any friends that play instruments either. This does not in any way make me want to stop playing, but it does make me feel a little bit lonely. It would be great to be able to converse about what I'm learning and commiserate with those who are. I probably should have thought of hitting these forums quite a while ago.

As far as other interests, I play table top RPGs, such as Dungeons & Dragons and similar games. I'm also into video games on both the PS and PC.

Anyone else out there in a similar situation?

Welcome,

I think from my experience, it is much harder for adults to find other people to play with, took me a couple of years.

It has not been easy for me, I don't think guitar is easy for anyone, but regular practice and always having something to work on or towards has been the trick.

Best of luck with it!

Bill

This year the diet is definitely gonna stick!

Hey Shawn, welcome.

I am in a similar situation in that I don't have anyone to practice with or jam with either. It does make it a lot more fun when you have others to play wth.

But, at the stage I'm at now, I'm just concentrating on trying to get a little better every time I pick up the guitar. I'll pull up youtube when I',m done with my guitartricks lessons and play to a backing track, but that's as close as I get to jamming with someone.

I'll keep a lookout though and find someone at some point.

What kind of guitar do you have, bud? I'd like to see it!

Thanks for reading, and be safe.
