Hi. Sorry if this has been asked before but I can't find it anywhere.  Is there a way to search the beginner song list to find songs that focus on particular chord sets like A, D and E, or C, G and D please?

Thanks very much.

Unfortunately I don't think there is a way to search for all the chords in a song, or to search for songs by chords.  But there is a list of applicable songs on the GF 1 landing page.

In between each chapter are links to songs that use the skills taught in that chapter.

You can also can go to the welcome landing page of each song tutorial and the key signature is in the lesson text & mentioned by the instructor.  That will give you a good indication of what chords are probably used.

For example Perfect is in G major, indicating it will probably use the chords G, C, D and E minor.

And you could just go to the performance video and scan through the notation.  Doing this on Perfect shows it does indeed use those chords.

You can see the list of beginner, made easy songs here.

Hope that helps!

"In between each chapter are links to songs that use the skills taught in that chapter."

When you are just clicking through "next lesson" those don't show up, or they are in a place that I did not notice.

It pays to go reading through past forum posts, now I can go back and practice some of those songs.

Thanks

Looking for "3 chord" songs for beginners. Most use simple progressions like A-D-E or C-G-D, perfect for practicing.

Here are some songs on this site:

I think I found that page by doing a google search for basically what you are asking for. It's how I came across Guitar Tricks for the first time.

He may not have access as a registered member but he can check out The Cowboy Rides Away by George Strait. G major C major D major. Strum it anyway he wants it sounds good. If he is really new and just wants to play a song he could use power chords and simple strums. It will sound good and he will be playing with the band.

My new goal in life is to be able to transition between those three chords smoothly and in rhythm.....

Have fun David. It is such a great song for a newbie to start with, that's how it was introduced to me. Hitting those chords in time with the bass line is really where it's at for me.

I am working through Desi Serna's version of "Wonderful Tonight" first. It is perfect for where I am at. Repetitious whole note chord changes, with one little "fast" chord change thrown in. Once I have mastered that, I will feel that I have leveled up enough to try other songs in those chords.

That is a nice song. Not sure how you are making your D chord, but if you are using your middle ring and pinky it makes transitioning to the C easier. Something else you may or not be aware of is adding "transpose" to Chrome. It allows looping a section and speed changes.

Hmm, I make the G chord with the pinky and middle, but have not tried it on the D. I will work that into my practice.

Thanks for the tip on Transpose, I had experimented with a few "looper" option that allowed clipping of videos.
