Hi everyone,
I’m Alex, just joined the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I’ve been playing on a Yamaha Pacifica for a little while now, and it’s been a solid companion as I try to build up my skills. One of my favorite songs to play (or at least try to!) is Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd—the acoustic part just never gets old. I’m curious when you were starting out, what was the first song you learned all the way through that really made you feel like, "Okay, I can actually play guitar"? Looking forward to hearing your stories and tips!

Hi quaint.mackerel.rttv,

So happy to hear you are loving your Yamaha Pacifica, and learning to play 'Wish You Were Here'. Fun!

I started when I was a pre-teen, and I think the first song I was able to play through and feel like "I can actually play guitar" was "Leavin' On Jet Plane."  My Dad had the vinyl album and played it a lot, so the song was kind of embedded in my head!

Knowing the song really well is super helpful in learning to play it - and ups the joy factor too, I believe. It sounds like you have a good thing going with "Wish You Were Here', especially the parts that never get old!

Have fun - Lisa
